Liberal Democrat Councillor for Guildford West Learn more

Anyone who has driven or walked along Cabell Road recently knows what an appalling state it is in. I have been pushing the County Council’s Highways Department to do a proper repair job and last year it was put on the list for major road works which should have been done by March this year. The work was not done and on behalf of local residents and all the other people who use the road, I have been trying to find out why and when it will be repaired. So far, I have not had any satisfactory answers.
All this messing about has to stop. With borough councillors Julia McShane and Mark Chapman, I have been collecting signatures on a petition which is going to the Guildford Local Committee on 13th June. The petition says that the Local Committee must insist that the road is prepared to make it fit and proper for residents and other users to use. The wording also says that the road is a safety hazard and is putting people at risk. It took us less than a day to get 135 signatures on the petition which means that the Committee must accept it.
If you want to hear the Council’s response to the petition, come and be a part of the audience at the meeting which is at 7pm on 13th June at Worplesdon Memorial Hall. There will be a public question time at the beginning of the meeting when members of the audience put questions to council officers. I look forward to seeing you there.
