The petition asking Surrey County Council to do proper repairs to Cabell Road in Westborough was presented to Guildford Local Committee last night by Wayne McShane, the chairman of the Park Barn & Westborough Community Association.  Wayne gave the Committee the background to the petition and the misery being caused to local residents because the County Council have let the road get into such a bad state.  Some residents who live in Cabell Road were there and one of them asked a question about why the road had been left unrepaired for so long.

The reply from the highways officer said that the section between Homestall and Barnwood Road is down to be repaired during the current financial year which ends in March 2013.  He was told by Wayne McShane, Borough Councillor Mark Chapman and me that the same section of road had been in the list for major repair works during the last financial year and had not been done and that was why residents were reluctant to accept that it would be done this year.  The officer apologised to Wayne and residents for the delays and reassured that it would be done this year.

We all hope that we can rely on the work being carried out this year.
