I attended the Police Panel meeting at St Francis Church in Westborough this evening. It was good to meet a new member of the neighbourhood team and the new Anti Social Behaviour Officer from Guildford Borough Council.  It was also good to learn about the successes they have had in the fight against drug dealing in the area. Some members of the drug community are now out of circulation for a while which is going to make our community safer.  The fight against drugs and anti-social behaviour is ongoing  and they welcome any information which people in the area may have to help them in that fight.  It is important to remember that this is not just a problem in Westborough but right across Guildford and the whole south east of England but it also important that we know what the Police are doing to deal with it.

The team listened to residents’ concerns, including one resident who was worried about cars being parked up for a long time with their engines running which I now know can be an offence if it goes on for an unreasonable length of time.  They will be working on all of them.

I was surprised that none of the candidates for other political parties in the area were there to hear what is really important to people living in Westborough and the local area.
